What To Do When You have Zero Time To Apply Makeup

Now that I have 3 little people to get ready in the morning, (besides myself) in order to get ready to be out of the door in the early a.m. to get my 2 boys to school, let's just put it bluntly...I have ZERO time to put on makeup.

Okay, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic (nooo, not moi??!), but I definitely have less time than I did before my sweet baby girl was born. See sweet Vivian below- hopefully you guys won't get tired of seeing pictures of her because I already have a slight obsession with taking her picture.

Who says third children don't get photographed?! So with my first morning for getting everyone ready by myself after my delivery over a week ago, I had to make some adjustments to my makeup routine.

What was my plan of action?? Stick to a neutral palette that work best, that you can't screw up and don't look like a clown wearing if you have to rush putting them on!! I've been reading all my fall magazines in the middle of the night when I'm up feeding the baby, and have noticed a big fall color trend of camels, beiges, and golds on the runways- but then again, when is camel NOT a fall trend?? Kinda goes with the season. But this is great because my neutral minimal makeup face goes perfectly with this look.

On my face that took literally 8 minutes:

  • Skin. You're gonna die, but I used two of the foundation samples I ripped out of one of my magazines (that I was reading around 2:30am) for Maybelline's new Dream Smooth Mousse foundation ($8)(for normal to dry skin- ME!). I mixed color creamy natural and natural beige from the sample card (bc one wasn't enough for my whole face) and slapped it on my face with my finger. This stuff blended awesome-ly and looked pretty darn flawless to have come preserved in my magazine. I'm definitely buying this stuff.
  • Eyes. My favorite neutral goldish-brown-camel color shadow right now, Lancome's Color Design shadow in color Chic ($17). Lancome has some of the best pigmented shadows in my opinion. This neutral is definitely worth the price tag- I wear it a lot. Mascara was Lancome's Hypnose in color black ($24.50), and yes, I took time for 2 coats on top and bottom. Lots of lashes are a must when skipping eyeliner!
Neutral inspiration on runways along with my brush pointing to my "Chic" shadow color
  • Cheeks. Nars blush in Orgasm ($25). is there really any other blush choice out there??
  • Lips. Mirror Mirror Lip Gloss in "I'm Perfect" by Too Faced. This is a wonderful sheer beige tinted colored gloss that looks about as sexy as beige can get for the a.m. school drop off hour!

Even though I have little time these weekday mornings to put on my face, I'm thankful I have 3 healthy beautiful -busy- children as my reason for not being able to spend hours getting ready. It's nice to see that my challenge of keeping my makeup routine to below 10 minutes can actually happen, and that I look pretty decent!

I'll take my hour to get ready this weekend when I have my hubby around to chase the kids;-)

If you did tell, I would never know how fast your routine is. You look so radiant and Vivian is so cute!

When I'm pressed in time, MAC paint pot in Rubenesque is a must. It actually looks quite different when you layer it vs. when you apply in a sheer coat. It's really that awesome as it gives you an illusion that you have eye a lot of eye makeup going on.

I've heard a lot of good things about that Maybelline foundation. Maybe it'll be my winter foundation then, as my skin tends to get dryer in winter.

Congratulations on the new baby! The Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse is so great!! I actually like applying it with my fingers best after trying a stippling brush and sponge and not loving the results as much. That's an awesome sample card you got from a magazine.

b5ley, that's good to know you've had such a good experience with this stuff too and about the use of fingers is best. I'm definitely going to go get myself some now. And Dao, that paint pot sounds really interesting- so I'm going to go check it out too!
I love hearing everyone's input!!
