Step By Step Tips on Glowy Skin Like Jennifer Lopez

I figured this post was pretty fitting since Mrs. Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo - does she still go by that nickname these days, I don't know, but it's catchy) just got named the "World's Most Beautiful Woman" by People magazine.  So why wouldn't you want to get glowing skin like her- right??

My happy glow-y skin interpretation!

Not a bad title for a 41 year old mother of twins huh??  For some reason it gives me a sense of pride that an over 40, mother of two, was given such an honor as opposed to a 20-something starlet who hasn't earned their stars and stripes.  But that's the over 30 yr old mom in me;-)  I completely agree that Lopez has gotten better with age.

As I've been watching American Idol (for the hundredth season), I've been amazed by Jennifer's skin and how it glowy it seems.
So I wanted to share with all of you, my step-by-step tips for getting gorgeous and glowing from within:

Skin primed face with only eyes and foundation applied.

Concealer added

1.  Start with a skin primer.  I used Cover Girl and Olay's Simply Ageless Serum and Primer ($13.99) before applying my foundation and concealer.  This makes all of the other products work to their maximum potential!  Make sure to put your concealer under your eyes as well as around the corners of your nose and your mouth to block out any redness or broken capillaries.

2.  Wear smokey copper colored eyes for warmth.   I used Too Faced Natural Eye Collection ($35) colors for my eye bed. I lined the lower lash line with the gold color, Honey Pot, for some extra shimmery eyes.  These colors make the warmth seem like it comes from within.  The eyes speak for themselves.

Bronzer applied around the perimeter of my face- NOT just the t-zone!
Don't forget the jawbone!

My bronzer is flat/matte (shown left, Palladio Mosaic bronzer), and my highlighter for my cheekbones is shimmery (shown right, Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in pink quartz, $38)

I apply my highlighter shimmer with a small fluffy brush so as not to apply too much shimmer
and to make it seem realistic.

3.  Add some shimmer, bronzer, and some peachy blush to make the face happy.  All of the pics above show how bronzer and highlighter work together to make the glow most obvious without looking overboard shiny.  The tip is to use it in small amounts so you look like you have a "glow", not a "shine."

My overall glowy- look.

Don't forget to add a tiny bit of highlighter on the cupids bow of the upper lip.

Had to add a pic of me and my son Jack for you to see how my highlighting techniques make
the skin glow a little bit more than untouched skin (Jack's!).
Although, he's still cuter than I could ever hope to be.

Glow from within ladies!  Make how you feel inside show on the outside.
