Get The Most From Your Mascara

Mascara is one of those products I think most women should take advantage of because there's nothing that can highlight your peepers more than a couple easy swipes of mascara!!

{I used L'Oreal Voluminous mascara, waterproof formula}

Here is an easy technique than can really bring your lashes to life!

 {Before mascara- boring!}

 {Start applying mascara at the inner corner lashes by sweeping your wand towards the bridge of your nose multiple times}

 {Then switch to the outer half of your lashes and sweep the wand towards your temples. Make sure to wiggle that wand back and forth in a zig zag the whole time!}

{Finish the look by applying one coat to lower lashes}

In addition to this technique, try these few things as well to get the most from your mascara:

1.  Use an eyelash curler like this one by Shiseido, everytime!  And only use it BEFORE you apply the mascara, afterwards will pull those lashes out-yuck.  Start at the lash base, take away, squeeze the center, take away, then finish by curling the tips.  This creates a nice curl and not some weird 90 degree angle!

2.  Use a waterproof formula mascara if you can handle it.  Waterproof formulas just seem to keep the curl produced by the eyelash curler longer, and you get less smudging throughout the day.  I love Lancome's Definicils in the waterproof version.

3.  Replace your mascara every 3-4 months.  Mascara gets old and dries out quicker than any other beauty product, so you need a fresh tube at least every 4 months.  And I like drugstore mascara's best anyway so you're not spending a whole lot by doing this and you're doing your lashes a favor.  My faves:  L'Oreal Voluminous and Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume mascara.  And unless you have super white lashes that need a brown/black shade, always go black for color.

What are your mascara favorites right now??  I'm ALWAYS on the look out for the next great mascara- drugstore or department store! We all want to benefit our fringes;-)

My favorite is either Definicils by Lancome or the neon green volume mascara by Maybelline. Thanks for the great tips! Even though I apply mascara every day, I've never really thought about the detailed motion, direction, etc. Now I have some analysis to do... :)

Maybelline Volum Express Colossal is my fave day in and day out. The non-waterproof version is terrible. But the waterproof formula...to.die.for.lashes. Does Lash Blast come in waterproof or only water resistant? I tried Lash Blast Fusion and wanted to love it, but it was so wet it weighed down my curl and this girl has got to have her curl :-/ Another good one is Pixi Lash Booster, but it is soooo hard to remove and a bit pricey compared to drugstore.

@Amy- are you talking about Define-a-lash by Maybelline?? I think I forgot about that one- it's great!! Give these tips a try- I know you being a lash girl, these will come in handy;-)

@Alison- YES Lash Blast Volume does come in waterproof- I use it on all of my weepy brides;-) Will def be heading to get some Pixi lash booster- sounds phenomenal!! I don't care how hard things are to remove as long as it stays!! I use Lancome's BiFacil to remove all the hard stuff!

Well, I actually have 3 favorites. I was using Lash Blast by Covergirl for a little while, it does good at giving length but not too much on volume. The other one I like a lot is the falsies mascara by maybelline, that one lengthens pretty good and gives a bit of volume. But my most favorite is Organic wear's 100% Natural Origin Mascara. It does both for me and it's completely organic!

Love anything lashes! My favorite is Dior Diorshow & the Clinique Lower Lash Mascara. I've been wanting to try Lancome.

My absolute favourite mascara is Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Triple Effect. I have tried so many different brands and this one is by far the best in terms of thickening lashes which I love. I think it beats mascaras by MAC, Lancome, Loreal, Cliniqu etc hands down.

@Charlene, I like that falsies too!
@Erin, never tried the lower lash one from Clinique, but I"m always applying on the lower ones so this might be a good investment! Thanks!
@Nicole, I've never used an Almay mascara- ever in my 10 years of professionally doing makeup-shame on me!! Guess I will need to check this one out after your great recommendation.
@Choochamo, love the organic recommendation since I didn't cover that category-thanks a bunch!
