Somewhere Over The Rainbow

It's been a gloomy, dreary, and rainy past two days here in Georgia.  And to boot, 2 of my 3 kids have been under the weather and trapped indoors, so needless to say, we haven't been the happiest of households!

Roy G Biv was my inspiration AND Pinterest.com

I've been going very neutral and minimal in my makeup routine as my last post pointed out, so today I decided to bring my own sunshine and rainbows into the house!  Check out my rainbow colored lash line- isn't that such a happy and non-dreary look?!!

I followed the rainbow order of colors, ROY G. BIV, which if you didn't retain this guys name from grade school, it stands for:

  • Red-
  • Orange-
  • Yellow-
  • Green-
  • Blue-
  • Indigo-
  • Violet.  Although I had to fudge on the outer corner and combine indigo and violet because I ran out of eyelid space on top!! Ha!

It literally only took me 15 minutes to create this "over the rainbow" eyeliner look because the rest of the makeup was kept to a minimal (for obvious reasons- we didn't want to look like a drag queen-it's only a Tuesday afternoon!).

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer is the ultimate first step must have to keep all these colors
as bright and vibrant as possible!  And so they don't melt into one another creating a mess;-)

Starting the process with the color red in the inner corners with the smallest of tipped brushes.
Oh, and my crease color is "Teddy Bear" by Too Faced.

These are the two palettes I used to create my rainbow- Stila Color Wheel on left, Bobbi Brown Brights palette on right (not available anymore unfortunately).
I was able to use all of these colors wet as well which made them appear more vibrant.

My rainbow before black liner and mascara was added.

I used my Kat Von D tattoo liquid liner in "trooper" on top lash line with a slight wing, and added my indigo shadow on the lower outer corner of the bottom lashes since there was no room left on top!

An easier way to get rainbows in your life, Giza leather bracelets by Helene Jewelry!

How can you not love a good rainbow?? I'm a big fan of color, and want to get my hands (or wrists!) on this set of 12 muti-colored leather bracelets by Helene Jewelry for the days I don't have 15 minutes to do this rainbow look! This definitely brightened my dreary dull day and made me smile a little more.

What do you think-Are you "over the rainbow" for my multi-colored liner look?  How do you lift your spirits-is it a new lipstick or shadow look, retail purchase, or hugging someone you love??
