Better Mood Through Bold And Bright Beauty Products

Makeup is a definite mood changer for me.  There are a multitude of ways that some people can feel better about their day just by something as small as drinking their favorite Starbucks concoction on the way to work, hearing their favorite song on the radio, or even sweating it out at the gym for 45 minutes.

In my case, bright and bold beauty products can take my mood from somber to super-cali-fragalistic-expialidocious!!  (I have no idea if that’s spelled right, but you get my excitement!).

Today there is not a lot going on in the eyeshadow department, but that’s because when you wear a lipstick this bright, you don’t need a whole lot of other color on the face competing for attention.  There were a few examples of this bright mouth with simple eyes on the Spring 2012 runway collections from Milly, Betsey Johnson, and Luca Luca as shown here.  Lots of shocking colored makeup products to get the audience excited and happy about the clothes I guess!

For me though, I’m also using my Ray Bans to cover my sad eyes that are prepped with waterproof mascara for another reason…explanation below.

Now I love a good neutral lipstick and baby pink nails every now and then, don’t get me wrong.  But I pick my makeup color palette according to my mood.  And usually, if I’m not in a good place, I need a pick me up with a bright lip, rainbow colored eyeliner, or shockingly bright fingernails – something bright and shiny that reflects the mood I’d like to be in!  In today’s case, I chose to wear my brightest lipstick and work my neon nails because I dropped my baby girl off for her FIRST day of preschool- and I’m a mess inside!  With the next 3 hours to myself, alone with a quite house and car, while all 3 of my kids are at school, has given me a little internal anxiety.  I’m not quite sure what to do with myself to be quite honest.

The quiet is weird as it seems there has always been little people around me making noise since Vivian was born. I’m listening to Amy Winehouse on Pandora right now, if that tells you anything about my conflicted mood at the moment! Ha!!  Even our dog seems a bit depressed that there are no kids around as I sit here at the computer.
So I am relying on my loud colored nails and lips to keep me company and distract me from the quiet, until I pick up my baby girl in 3 hours!!!!
How do you put yourself in a better mood if something is bothering you??
