Kiddie Couture Extravagance

I'm a self professed mommy with a makeup problem.  I'm not afraid to spend money on higher end cosmetics if I know they will perform and of course shave a couple years off my face.  I'm also a mommy who loves her kids and loves the idea of dressing them in the nicest/cutest/coolest clothing and accessories I can afford.  Because obviously I can't put makeup on them - HA!!

{Dolce & Gabbana's Premier kids collection.}

(Can we talk about the above ad concept real quick.  I wonder if these 7 kids are supposed to look like they belong to this gorgeous mom/model?? Nah, they're probably just supposed to represent her nieces, nephews, and neighbors kids.  She looks too relaxed and put together for them to be her own. Ha!!)

When I say nicest clothing possible, that usually means on a good day I can afford to put each one of my three into a full on Gymboree outfit.  And that's pushing it.  So when I came across the newest ad campaign for Dolce and Gabbana's premier kids collection (check this link out to see the ad gallery of clothing- AMAZING) it stopped me in my Old Navy/Target/Gymboree tracks.  Every single piece is beautiful, finely constructed, and detail oriented. This collection is focused on 3 to 10 year olds, so even though I'd personally wear every single female piece they make, my 34 year old self won't be able to even squeeze a leg in.

But oh wait, did I mention, I also wouldn't be able to afford to put one leg in a pair of their tiny pants...

{You cannot deny the cuteness of this girly trio and their D&G garb.}

Um, yeh.  Just a kiddie D&G belt for their tiny waist is gonna cost ya around $130. That's right, in the hundreds.  I flinch at buying myself a $35 dollar belt from TJ Maxx that has a name brand attached to it.  I can't even wrap my head around buying one for my daughter or son that they will probably end up dribbling pudding on, or worse, taking off to go potty and leaving it in their public school bathroom!!
{This almost doesn't even look realistic she's so perfectly accessorized!}

If you want to see a few examples of how much donning your little one in some D&G garb would cost you, you can click online at Neiman Marcus or ChildrensSalon.com just for fun to see a small example of the collection. Or I guess if you've got a bank account like Suri Cruise, Beyonce's baby Blue Ivy, or one of the Beckham kids, then this might actually be your closet reality.  I honestly cannot wrap my head around paying this much for kids clothes even if I had the bank account to back it up.  But maybe if you can afford these things, then you also know the secret to Coca Cola's formula and to keeping your children pristine from stains and dirt until they go to bed (does it require a special bubble to encase them in??).

I'll admit, maybe there's a tad bit of jealousy going on internally that I cannot afford to dress my cute bambinos in these crazy cool designer duds, but I'm interested in knowing what you think.

WOULD you or COULD you, buy clothes this extravagant for your 3-10 year old??

*Disclaimer.  I do realize this children's line isn't exactly "couture" as described in the title.  That would mean each piece is designed and manufactured to specific measurements and requirements for an individual.  But aren't titles all about grabbing your attention??  Sorry if it was misleading, it just sounded fancy.*

the D&G would be cute clothing for church or a semi-formal wedding the kids were invited to, I guess.

I do like that Victoria Beckham dresses her kids like kids. They aren't trying too hard to be uber-hip.

Honestly, if I could afford it, I would probably buy my little girl a few things from this line! It's so adorable! I still think some of it's too grown up though, and even if I had that kind of money to spend, I don't think I could justify an entire designer wardrobe when little ones grow as fast as they do!

@Stee- I agree, VB dresses her kids super cool and not too over the top.
@Rachel- oh absolutely if I had the cash flow I'd splurge on a few of these items!! But yes, they do grow so fast at those ages, I'd be lucky to get a few wearings out of those $$ pieces!
@Tina- Ha!! Totally fun to dream, I agree.
