Festive Makeup In A Flash

I have come to realize in my old(er) age, that sometimes I just can't take 20- 30 minutes to pull a makeup look together, as much as I'd like to.  (Here's a recent post confirming just that showcasing my early morning face.)  With the holidays upon us, I feel like I need to have a quick and easy go-to look when I need to look festive in a flash!  Here is such a look and its 3 main components...

1.  Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise liquid liner in "black" ($8)
2.  Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in "Rose" ($40)
3.  Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in "Cherries In The Snow" ($7)

If you want to see my original posting on the iconic "Cherries in the Snow" shade, click here.  My skin was a bit darker in the posting, but it still works!

{I wouldn't dare compare myself to Gwen, but isn't our look similar?? Via.}

If you want to use your own products to get my festive look - all you have to do is:

  • create a thin winged eye,
  • shimmery cheeks,
  • and a matte but bright lip!
I like to balance out the shimmer by not having it on the lips AND cheeks, so pick one or the other.  If you're interested in my shadow colors, they're both by MAC Cosmetics -  "vellum" (which isn't available anymore, try "crystal avalanche") from the lash line to crease and in the crease is "sketch."  Oh, and of course the sock bun for zero hair time.  Are y'all tired of me talking about this hair do yet??

If you had to create a festive look with only 3 main products - which ones would you use?

Cherries in the Snow was my grandmother's signature lip color. I always assumed it would be too red/orange for me. She had more of an olive complexion and I am fair. Now that I see it is more raspberry I am going to try it out.

What do you recommend for a non-shimmery eyeshadow? I'm over 40 so I can't pull off shimmer anymore.

This is so helpful! I often get stuck in a rut and when I want to make my look more glam, I don't even know where to start.

These three steps are easy and just what I needed as I head into a weekend with lots of partying!

@Christi- I have no doubt it was her signature, it's been around a LONG time!! Grandmother must have been really cool:) I actually think you CAN pull off shimmer just in small doses:) What is your eye color? That would help me to recommend a good color - are you looking for a good neutral?
@Katie- So glad I could be of help!!
@Samyukta- thank you so much lady!! I appreciate it!

LOVE iT!!!!
You're right, you're WAY cuter than Gwen! Such a happy & pretty mommy and i like that you didn't line your inside waterline like she did.
What brush are you using with the Bobby Brown?

@paigeemoe - gosh, you are too sweet for all of the compliments! I used a small head angled blush brush by bare escentuals to apply the shimmer brick on the tops of my cheekbones. thanks again for commenting!

@Jenny I have hazel eyes - brown/dark green/gold. I bought the Bobbi Brown Twilight palette because I liked the soft neutral colors but it is just so sparkly. I don't know how to use it to be more office appropriate.
Or to keep the glitter from falling on my cheeks!
