Look Alive Eye Makeup Tips

Lord knows I don't get as much sleep as I'd like to with three little people living under my roof + running my freelance business under that same roof.  But there is NO reason I need to LOOK tired with all of the makeup products and tricks I've got under my belt.

So I am going to share with you my "Top 3 Tips For Look Alive Eyes" if you need to wake up your ho hum eye makeup in a flash...

{BEFORE on left, AFTER adding 3 tricks on right.}

{#1. Line inner waterline of eye with a white or peach pencil.}

We all have a natural redness or darkness in our inner waterline, so by adding some lightness to it with a white or peach pencil brightens things up a bit in a subtle way that everyone can pull off.  I used NYX Jumbo pencil in "milk."

  {#2.  Add a champagne shimmer shadow right around the tear duct.}

By tracing the sideways V shape along the tear duct area with a shimmery (not glittery) champagne or nude shadow, it adds a bit of life to an otherwise dull and matte eye area.  If you are feeling daring, carry that shadow up to the eye bed to right above the pupil.  I used L'Oreal Infallible shadow in "Iced Latte."

{Taking the shimmer a bit further up on the lid.}

 {#3.  Add 2 - 3 coats of black mascara.}

Curl your lashes beforehand of course (this goes without saying right??) then add at least 2 coats of your favorite mascara on top and bottom lashes.  A third coat if you've got the time and patience and focus mainly along the base of the lashes (so it looks dark almost like eyeliner if there's no time for it).  Nothing brings the eyes more to life than mascara.  NOTHING.

These tips are easy and subtle enough that EVERYONE can make them work.   Hello faking an extra two hours of sleep!

I so needed this post. Sleep has not been my friend the last week since my son refused to sleep in his own room because he watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3. It's getting better night by night but man, mama is TIRED. ;-)
