But it's the start of a new week, and I've decided to kick it off with implementing a new series, which will be specifically based on celebrity makeup looks, where I will highlight one look done right (beauty!) and one look that missed the boat (blunder!) Let's go ahead and start it off with my picks for this week...
BEAUTY : CHRISTINA RICCI
This is Christina Ricci (no Wednesday Addams here anymore!) at the premier of the Smurfs 2 movie, and I would describe her makeup look as "radiantly fresh." Her skin is flawless and glowing, the lips are the perfect shade of pink, (I'm feeling Dior Addict Lipstick in "Princess,") and her eyes are not overdone, but just done enough! And the braided head crown, well obviously I love it because I just posted about this look! All around she just looks PRETTY without trying too hard without heavy layered makeup we see on so many celebs these days.
BLUNDER : SALLY STRUTHERS
Sally, oh Sally. This photo is the epitome of a makeup DON'T. When contouring the face and nose, subtly is key, plus choosing the right colors to contour with - no oranges please! Also, an overly powered face, makes one look older than they should. Sheer skin with a glow (take note of Christina above) is a healthier and more youthful look. The overly lined lips with a too dark liner is also quite aging, and not natural. Her smile is forced, and I think it's because she knows this wasn't her best look.
I like routine and knowing what is coming next. Without a routine, I'm like a chicken with its head cut off wandering around aimlessly starting one project without finishing it and going to the next. That's why I'm super excited that 1. School starts back this Wednesday for my kids (loud inner "yahoo!" coming from inside my head!) and 2. Now you (and I!) can expect to learn from celebrities makeup mistakes and triumphs at the start of each week!
What do you think of my two choices? Do you agree?
