I know it’s been awhile since I’ve done an actual “makeup” related post, but I just couldn’t resist sharing this picture and my thoughts on my daughter. This shot was taken on Viv’s actual 18 month birthday and is just a taste of how much fun she was at this photo shoot. It was a sigh of relief because as people with small children know, when it comes to taking family photos, you should have no expectations going into them because kids can be so unpredictable!! But she really shined on this day and was loving the camera! And I can honestly say I am happy with myself in these pics because when she smiles like that, I feel like the most beautiful mom on the planet! Now if only I could get her to smile like that 24/7 then there’d be no need for all the makeup I slap on a daily basis- ha!
Every woman on this earth is someone’s daughter. My hope for the future when I look at photographs like this, is that my Vivian will realize everyday until she is old and gray, that her mom is so proud to have her as a daughter and that I show it through unconditional love and support no matter what road life takes her down. Now that I have a female child, it is so much fun to do girly things with her (hello ribbons & bows & dolls!) but also puts added pressure on me to set a good strong example for her. I want her to realize she can still rule the world with that tutu on and embrace her femininty. I find it an unfair double standard when well put together females are quickly judged that there might not be that much “upstairs” due to all of the hair, makeup, and skirts. As a makeup artist, mom, and female, I hope she will see by my example that taking pride in your appearance does not show a lack of brains – quite the opposite.

To all of you beautiful daughters out there- have a fabulous weekend!!!
