Upside Down Eye Shadow

It's fun to do things opposite of what is expected sometimes.  With the "pop of color" makeup trend still ever present in the magazines and on the runways, I continue to play with the idea of using one bright color on my face.  Typically you'll find me wearing my bright makeup on just ONE specific feature so as not to overwhelm my face.  For example - an orange lipstick, a hot pink cheek, or my electric blue or green liner along my upper lashes for just a hint of color.  But I decided to shake things up and put that bright color UNDERNEATH my eyes this time...

 {UPSIDE DOWN pop of color!}

The #1 trick to keeping this look from looking too costume-y is to use your bright shadow color only along the lower lash line, and keeping all other features super neutral and soft!  I even went so far as to omit eye liner and true blush.  Here is a pictorial break down of how I created this look...

 {Purple shadow (blend of "Skiba" & "Babe") from the Kat Von D. True Romance Poetica palette.}

My trick for getting the underneath line perfectly straight and winged, is to place a flat tip triangle sponge right underneath the lashes.  Then you color in the small area between the sponge and lashes with your flat bristled brush.  And if you want to deposit even more color, just pull the sponge down further to create a large space.

 {The upper shadow color is by Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo Studio 24 hr cream gel shadow in "tough as taupe."

{View from above!}

 {I used a pink based bronzer, Too Faced Pink Leopard, instead of actual blush.}

{Perfectly nude sheer lipgloss by Becca Cosmetics in "caipirinha."}

{Completed look!  I also used just a tinted moisturizer instead of a matte flat face.}

This would work for any pop of color you choose to use on the lower lash line, such as a burgundy, bright green, royal blue, etc!  If you want to see how I use bright shadow on the upper lash line with another Maybelline 24hr gel shadow color, you can check this post out here.

Would you sport the upside down eye shadow look??

@Redlipsblackhair - Thanks bunches!! It's just Stila tinted moisturizer and I think the Too Faced highlighter helps it glow!
