Make-Unders Popular For Spring 2013

{Model for Helmut Lang Spring 2013, Makeup by Nars, via.}

My personal makeup motto - the more the better.  Not that I ever want it to look like I'm wearing a ton of makeup, I just know that sometimes the natural look ain't so natural.  Even though no one booked me a flight to New York Fashion Week (what??!) I have enjoyed seeing photos around the Internet of what makeup looks designers have attached to their spring 2013 collections.

Hair and makeup are a BIG deal when designers send their models and clothing down the runways, because both influence and compliment one another.  So a lot of thought goes into the makeup artist and designer collaboration for fashion week.  From what I've seen as a whole, make-unders were the look du jour for Spring 2013 - natural and effortless makeup ruled the runways.  This could be good for all of you makeup minimalists knowing you'll be on trend next Spring, or bad news for all of you makeup mavens like myself who like a little more smoke and mirrors...

If make under looks are what are going to be popular beauty wise for spring, then I need to get cracking on the microdermabrasion, serums, glycolic peels, and skin perfecting moisturizers!!  Because in order to look this good without a lot of color in your makeup routine, your skin has to be perfectly polished and pimple free.

What are your thoughts on these makeup minimalist type looks -  Exciting or terrifying?

Despite being a makeup junkie I prefer the less is more look. Something that can look great on anyone. I think it will do wonders for those who are getting a bit too jeresy in the wrong way to tone it down a bit. Especially when they aren't doing it right. Besides I don't know a man out there that doesn't love a more natural look on a women.

The eyebrows and lips on the Derek Lam model.... Stunning!! We don't need any clowns walking around all of the time! LOL! Less is more even though I love my pops of color.

@Jenna- I absolutely laughed out loud with the "a bit too Jersey" comment! Ha! So true about the man comment - although mine does love a good smokey eye!
@Rhonda- True, clowns are for kids - not adult women! I love my pops o color too!

The natural look is always preferable, but I do like certain things to be enhanced.. I felt like they looked like they just woke up(their faces), and I get it, its his expression,and his thing for this season, but I wouldn't do it, nor recommend it, I always say makeup is what enhances your already existing beauty.. so a little eyeliner, or mascara, or something enhanced would have looked way better.
