” Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling.”
Margaret Lee Runbeck, Time For Each Other
This is a photo of my son Walker traveling via tricycle with the help of his friend Avery.

The quote up top (I got from my Real Simple magazine) really caught my attention after my friend Abbey sent me this photo of my son enjoying his first bike ride by himself – well almost by himself with the help of princess Avery!! He literally had a smile from ear to ear as he successfully rode along the pavement.
**And as a side “makeup” note- since this is usually a makeup blog!, Real Simple’s website always has some nice makeup/beauty tips that relate very well to most women’s everyday life. They’re usually real simple ideas to follow…hahaha!**

I compare this idea of “enjoying the travel” rather than arriving at the destination, to eating an exquisite piece of dark chocolate or drinking a fine wine. The best and most enjoyable part is during the process of eating the chocolate or halfway thru the glass of wine, not the end when you are only left with a wrapper or an empty glass. Walker was sooo happy while he was riding this bike, but once his time was over and he had to come in for lunch, he was devastated!!
So my goal for this new year of 2011 is to enjoy the happiness I feel during everyday life and happenings and not focus so much on the end result or “station” I plan on arriving at. We live in such a time and culture of doing things faster and quicker, that all too often we don’t even enjoy the “in between.” And sometimes the manner of travel is where the actual memories lie.
