I get in ruts with my hair style like some women get in ruts with their makeup, and wear the same look all day, every day. Hair is just not my thing, and I don’t have much of a “vision” for it. Since I have long hair, there are truly so many options out there of ways to switch up my look that I really shouldn’t wear the same messy top knot every single day. Luckily, the stylist who did my hair for my makeup event, was wearing the cutest braided do I’ve ever seen on herself, and was gracious enough to fill me in on how to accomplish it. I give you….the Grecian Braided Headband!!!
Easy Breezy Grecian Braid
{No, I was not actually driving in this photo. I was stationary in my driveway!}
{Front view of braid. Cool and off the neck for hot summer days!!}
{Another view, 10 hours after I put it up! Perfect stay put hair style.}
Here’s how easy it was to create:
1. You need long hair to pull this off. Sorry my short haired friends.
2. Divide you hair down the center into 2 side ponytails.
3. Start w right or left side pony (doesn’t matter) and make a simple braid going straight out from your head. Meaning, lift the hair up towards top of your ear while braiding (so it will lie flatter when you pull it up).
4. Secure braid with small thin rubber band at the end. I like these clear ones by Goody.
5. Repeat on other side.
6. Take each braided pony and lift up onto top of your head and secure tightly with bobby pins that match your hair color.
Voila!! I got SO MANY compliments on this look, and most everyone thought it must have taken me hours to create. On the contrary, this was one of the easiest and quickest do’s I’ve ever tried!! You look like a Grecian Goddess!! Or as my hubby tried to describe my new look, “are you trying to channel Princess Leia from Star Wars??”
{Hers were more like cinnamon buns on each side of her head!}
I love looks like these for long hair because they stay so well in the summer heat. It’s all off of my neck and forehead which keeps it looking sleek and neat throughout the day. For another similar look but a slightly different take on placing the braid more towards the front of your head (to create a crown type look), check out this great braid tutorial from one of my favorite mommy bloggers, Joanna, from A Cup Of Jo. This is my next hair inspiration! Oh, and if you liked my big ole black and white shades, you can check out a previous post featuring them here.
Would you rock the braided head band? What is your go-to hair look for this hot summer weather?
